It seems that we always want something available that is a little different from the basic. Coffee is no exception to this rule. Even among those of us who just want a good old fashioned cup of coffee most of the time still delight in having something a little different, a little more robust from time to time. That is where gourmet coffee comes into the picture.

There are several factors that set gourmet coffee apart from the rest. One of those happens to be the specific type of coffee bean used and exactly how the roasting is done. Different people will swear that where the coffee beans are grown will make all the difference in the quality of the finished product. Others will declare that the exact process employed to roast the beans will have much more of an impact on the taste of the gourmet coffee.

One thing is certain. It is during the roasting process that many coffee beans are infused with the flavorings that give us such a wide array of gourmet flavors. While techniques vary, the infusion seems to happen most often after the coffee bean has popped for the first time. At this juncture, there is still plenty of time for the coffee bean to absorb whatever mixture of flavoring is desired.

One great thing about this coffee is that you can find something for just about every palate and for every occasion. As an example, blends for major holidays are big sellers. Persons who want their coffee infused with a hint of chocolate or orange flavoring can easily find brands that are just right. Whether sweet or with a hint of some other flavoring, there is probably a gourmet coffee that will fill the bill nicely.

These days, several grocery market chains feature a gourmet coffee section with the beans on display and ready for fresh grinding. This is great for the coffee lover that would like less than a pound of several different types of coffee. In addition, one can take a quick sniff of the gourmet coffee beans and probably find a new combination that is worth a try.

Coffee is definitely a part of our lives these days. Whether you purchase the product by the pound or opt for smaller quantities of several types, you can have something special for just about any occasion.
