The Coffee Pot Has Changed Little From Kettle To Mr Coffee
The shape of the coffee pot has changed, but little has changed about what it does. The pot brings together coffee beans and hot water to brew coffee. The coffee can be in the form of whole beans, ground beans, freeze dried coffee, or even instant coffee.

What is Kona Coffee?

You've probably seen advertisements for kona coffee, or perhaps seen packages of kona coffee in a local specialty shop or gourmet grocery store. But what exactly is kona and what is supposed to set it apart from other types of coffee? Here is a little background information on kona and some tips on what to watch for should you wish to try kona.

Kona coffee derives its name from the geographical location of the coffee plants themselves. Located on the Kona coast in Hawaii, the soil is rich from the volcanic ash indigenous to the islands, and is thought to make a huge difference in the quality of the coffee beans produced. The plants will bloom through out the very dry winter experiences along the Kona coast, and harvesting usually occurs in the early autumn of each year.

A process where the coffee beans are hand picked, dried and hulled helps to make the task of sorting the beans based on size and shape very personal, which many people consider to be a step above the sorting process used in other parts of the world. Once sorted and graded, the kona coffee beans are ready for roasting. After the roasting, the kona beans can either be ground or sold for grinding by the consumer.

If you are interested in trying kona coffee, make sure that you purchase a brand that indicates a hundred percent kona coffee. A number of brands on the market will be marked as a kona blend, but these rarely contain more than ten percent true kona. Should you find that kona is hard to locate in your local shops, there are several Internet stores that carry a hundred percent coffee. While most growers recommend that you buy the beans and grind your own, you can also order ground kona online as well.
